In a tight battle between the Victoria Capitals and the Kelowna Heat, pitcher Justin Adler was in the zone. The Victoria left-hander was named the player of the game in Victoria's 2-1 win. The Capitals saw their win-loss record go to 16-13. At the same time, the Heat fell to 14-15.
Victoria took a 2-1 lead on Bill Bartlatt's 31st hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Bartlatt hit in the top of the eighth, left Kelowna pitcher Bradford Leblanc visibly frustrated.
"The old adage is true," said Bartlatt. "Good pitching stops good hitting."
