Capitals Win at Montreal, 6-1

The Victoria Capitals downed the Montreal Royales, 6-1, at Eliminators Ballpark. The Capitals were led by Gideon Vaillancourt, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Rich Tanner closed the game out for Victoria, earning his 5th save. The third-place Capitals improved to 15-13.
Carter Canning helped his team jump on top from the get-go. His first time up in the top of the first, he cranked a grand slam home run to give Victoria a 4-0 lead.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Capitals manager Tom Morton, "I like our chances."
