Victory Pushes Heat Record to 12-11
|
The inspired effort of Montreal third baseman Tom Kirby was not enough to prevent a 7-4 loss to the Kelowna Heat. Kirby was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 3 times. Charlie McIver recorded his 1st save for Kelowna. Kelowna now owns a record of 12-11.
Late-game drama came in the top of the eighth inning. With one out and the bases loaded, the batter, Bill O'Leary, hit a run-scoring single. It helped Kelowna seize the win.
In comments to the Kelowna Bulletin, O'Leary admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
