Balcome, Legends Rough Up Stars
|
The Saskatoon Legends met little resistance from the Niagara Stars, beating them 11-3 at Ballpark of Red Deer College. Pearce Balcome led the way. He went 3-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3 for Saskatoon. Jason Keeping, the winner, improved to 2-0. He held the Stars to 1 earned run on 3 hits over 6.2 innings, while striking out 7 and walking 0. Jim Reusch earned the save for Saskatoon, his 2nd of the year.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, first baseman Mike McCluskie delivered a key hit for the Legends. With Saskatoon leading 8-3, he ripped a 3-run home run.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Balcome told the Saskatoon Daily.
Their 11-9 record puts the Legends second in the Lester B. Person League West Division.
