Rain could not dampen the pregame excitement of San Diego fans at The Brew Stade. But the subsequent loss, and a disappointing one at that, to the Rhinos had to.
Rubber City starter Vincent Vickers kept the San Diego offense in check, while his team rolled to a 11-1 win. In 7 innings, Vickers surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run.
Early in the game, catcher Run-ming Wu had a 3-run home run for Rubber City. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Rhinos on top, 3-0.
San Diego manager Randy England called the blowout loss "just something that happens."
Rubber City, now 5-3, has played well in the early going.
