Victory Pushes Royales Record to 7-4
|
The Montreal Royales downed the Saskatoon Legends, 5-1, at Eliminators Ballpark. The Royales were led by Terry Merritt, who captured player of the game honors. He went 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Montreal reliever Earl Duval picked up the win to move to 1-0. Zach Arrington suffered the loss. The Legends fall to 5-7 and continue their wobbly start to the 2032 season.
Flexing his muscles for Montreal was the aforementioned Merritt. The left fielder had a 3-run home run in the bottom of the third for the Royales. It put his team ahead, 3-0, and sent them on to victory.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Merritt said after the game.
