Monarchs Pull Off Thrilling Win in Extras

The Saskatoon Legends wasted an inspired, 6.1-inning effort from starter Jan Woodbury, falling 1-0 to the London Monarchs at Ballpark of Red Deer College. London reliever Harry Ayotte was the winner. His record is now 1-1. The losing pitcher was Joe Winman. The Monarchs, with only their 1st win in 5 games, have not had much to write home about in 2032.
Runs were scarce in this one. So, Henry Goldsmith's at-bat in the top of the 11th was vitally important. With two out, the London second baseman hit a run-scoring double, to give his team a 1-0 lead.
"We had a chance to win," said Saskatoon manager Allen Cummings, "but we didn't get it done."
