A 3-RBI performance from Matt Drake, who is the top prospect in the Bulldogs organization, helped the Mississippi State Bulldogs beat the Rice Owls, 12-6. The Owls have now dropped 5 straight.

In the bottom of the 5th, Mississippi State took the lead on a 3-run home run by Matt Steiner. At the time, the Bulldogs were trailing 5-4, but Steiner's hit with two outs against Rice pitcher Jimmy Pennington put them in front, 7-5.

"Been a rough stretch for us," said Rice manager Jimmy Naylor.
