Volunteers Top Hurricanes to Even Record
Tennessee and Miami played a hard-fought contest at Gremlins Ballpark.

In a low-scoring affair between the Tennessee Volunteers and the Miami Hurricanes, pitcher John Bidwell was the difference between victory and defeat. The Tennessee right-hander earned player of the game honors in the 3-1 Volunteers win. The 13th-place Volunteers lifted their record to 22-22.

Bidwell provided the big break for the Volunteers in the top of the first inning. With a runner on 3rd, he hit a 2-run home run, helping Tennessee to get the win.

"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Tennessee skipper Mark Ellis. "I can't complain."
