Tigers Edge Hurricanes, 2-1
|
The Clemson Tigers got a magnificent performance from pitcher Ben Matthews, who muffled the Miami offense en route to a tight 2-1 Tigers win at Magistrates Ballpark. John Tallent earned the save, his 1st. At 14-29, the Tigers find themselves in 23rd place in the Ron Fraser Division.
Steve Hines, who is tied for 9th in the SBL in triples with 2, aided the Clemson cause with a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the third. For the game, the center fielder drove in one run.
"Baseball is a funny game," said Hines. "You've got to keep battling until things fall your way."
