The Washington State Cougars got a magnificent effort from pitcher Eric Martindale, who kept Long Beach State hitters in check en route to a 3-1 Cougars win at Ballpark of Macclenny College. Earning his 6th save of the year was Joe Campton. Washington State now has a 3-game win streak.

The Cougars got a big at-bat from right fielder Chad Miller, who in the top of the second hit a run-scoring single. It was his 42nd hit of the season and put the Cougars on top, 2-0.

"If we play well, we'll win our share of games," said Miller. "The only team that can beat us is us."
