Horned Frogs Beat Rebels, 8-3
|
TCU and Ole Miss met at Ballpark of Wrightsville College in front of a lively crowd.
TCU center fielder Brett Gardner was instrumental in his team's 8-3 win over the Ole Miss Rebels. Gardner, who is tied for 7th in the RDL with a .383 batting average, went 3-3 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Horned Frogs. Ken Hughes got the win, improving to 1-4. He held the Rebels to 1 earned run on 5 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 1.
Also pitching in for TCU was designated hitter Christian Brown, who hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the third. For the game, Brown was 1 for 5 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
"Wish we'd had more wins to celebrate like this one," said Brown.
The 15th-place Rebels have lost 4 consecutive games.
