49'ers Stick Beavers with 7-6 Loss
The Long Beach State 49'ers turned back the Oregon State Beavers, 7-6, at Palisades Ballpark. Tim Mitchell was named player of the game for his fine performance. He went 2-2 with 2 singles, 2 walks, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 times. Long Beach State reliever Darryl Moye got the win, raising his record to 2-0. Michael Tallon was tagged with the loss. Earning his 2nd save of the year was David Guyer.

In the top of the 6th, designated hitter Jason Chasteen gave Long Beach State the lead when he hit a 2-run single. The 49'ers had been trailing 6-5, but the two-out single off Oregon State pitcher Michael Tallon changed that -- and Long Beach State went on to win.

In postgame comments, Chasteen told the Long Beach State Times: "Do people still doubt I give 100 percent?"

The 4th-place 49'ers improved to 26-15.
