In a low-scoring clash between Louisiana-Layfayette and Texas, pitcher Shawn Thompson was a difference-maker. The right-hander earned player of the game honors for Louisiana-Layfayette in the 3-2 win. John Crouch was called on to finish, recording his 10th save. The Ragin Cajuns raised their record to 20-21.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Ragin Cajuns had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the top of the sixth, when center fielder Brad Minson hit a 2-run home run. The home run came off Matt Gordon and made the score 3-1, Ragin Cajuns. Minson went 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"I just tried to attack the bottom of the zone," Thompson said.
