Victory Over Wolverines Takes Virginia to 26-15
|
Getting an impressive start from Danny Horn, Virginia beat Michigan by the score of 6-2. Horn went 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 0, and struck out 9. His record improves to 3-1. Kris Richardson earned his 2nd save in 3 tries.
Sam Lewis helped the Virginia cause in the bottom of the fifth. With runners on 1st and 2nd and Virginia trailing 1-0, he put the hurt on a fastball from Dan Beard, launching it over the fence for a 3-run homer. The blast put the Cavaliers in front, 3-1.
"It makes it a little nicer in the clubhouse when we win," said Lewis. "It eases the tension."
Virginia is now 26-15, while Michigan is 20-21.
