Tigers Get One-Run Win at Louisiana-Layfayette
|
The skies opened up and the rain fell at Field of the Dukes.
In a low-scoring affair between the LSU Tigers and the Louisiana-Layfayette Ragin Cajuns, pitcher Jason Conradt was the difference between victory and defeat. The LSU left-hander earned player of the game honors in the 3-2 Tigers win. Earning his 3rd save for LSU was Sean Christmas.
Conradt contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for LSU in the top of the third. With his team trailing 1-0, Conradt took a fastball from Greg Maynard and stroked the home run to right-center. His 15th home run of the season allowed the Tigers to leap in front, 2-1.
"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Conradt told the LSU Daily. "You win just by scoring more runs."
With the win, the Tigers improved to 22-18.
