The rain could not keep the South Paris College Grounds crowd from enjoying a good ballgame.
The LSU Tigers went down to defeat to Chris Roberts and his Rice teammates. The final score was 3-2 in favor of the Owls. Roberts picked up the win for Rice, going 5 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 4-0.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the first, with the game tied, Sam See was at the plate when Rice scored 2 on an error. The miscue enabled the Owls to go in front, 2-0.
"The beers will taste better tonight after this win," said the ever-candid Roberts.
The 8th-place Owls lifted their record to 22-17.
