Longhorns Sink Bears, 8-6
|
Despite a great performance by Baylor first baseman Travis Eide, the Texas Longhorns defeated the Bears by the score of 8-6 at Ballpark of Celebration College. Eide went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Texas reliever Eric McElveen was credited with the win, to go to 2-0. Jeremy Sandberg took the loss for Baylor. Texas is now 18-21. Baylor is 17-22.
Ben Alexander drove in one run for Texas. In the bottom of the seventh, with the teams deadlocked, 6-6, Alexander delivered for the Longhorns. His run-scoring sacrifice fly put Texas on top, 7-6.
"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," Alexander told the Texas Times.
