Commodores Squelch Bulldogs Offense in Shutout Win
|
In a well-pitched game between the Vanderbilt Commodores and the Georgia Bulldogs, pitcher John Gayden was fantastic. The Vanderbilt left-hander was named the player of the game in Vanderbilt's 3-0 win. Jimmy Gregus finished to wrap up his 8th save. The second-place Commodores have won 4 in a row.
Early in the game, designated hitter Matt Strickland had a run-scoring single for Vanderbilt. It was his 47th hit of the season and put the Commodores on top, 1-0.
Afterward, Commodores manager Álex Negrón was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
