Cavaliers Mow Down Razorbacks, 9-4
|
The Virginia Cavaliers beat the Arkansas Razorbacks, 9-4, at Ballpark of Redwood College. The win was largely due to the efforts of right fielder Eric Kilpatrick, who captured player of the game honors. He was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Andrew Welborn picked up the win with 5.2 innings of work. He allowed 3 earned runs on 11 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 6. On the season, he is now 2-3. The third-place Cavaliers have won 4 in a row.
Also having an impact was left fielder Greg Wright, who stroked a 2-run single in the bottom of the fifth for Virginia. For the game, Wright was 2 for 5 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
Kilpatrick told a Virginia News reporter that he was "very satisfied" with the win.
