Rebels Fall to .500 After Loss to Bulldogs
|
Benefiting from Mike Rizzo's productive game, the Mississippi State Bulldogs downed the Ole Miss Rebels, 6-2. Rizzo went 4-4 with 4 singles for the Bulldogs. Frank Gentry, who went 5.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 1 run on 7 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 5. His record now stands at 2-2. The save was credited to Devonte Lebeaux, his 8th.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Joey Connell contributed a big hit for the Bulldogs. With Mississippi State leading 2-1, he hammered a solo home run.
"Anytime I can help the team, I feel good about it," said Connell.
The 10th-place Bulldogs improved to 21-17.
