Alabama Crimson Tide starter Nick Burdette was in fine form against the Iowa State Cyclones at Forney College Grounds, leading his team to a 5-4 win. Burdette, the winner, moves to 4-2. He threw 5 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 2 walks. Jim Unknown closed the game out for Alabama, earning his 1st save.
Tommie Parsons had a go-ahead double for Alabama in the top of the third inning. With two out and runners on 1st and 2nd, the 18-year old third baseman hit a 2-run double off Rafael Velasco. His 6th double of the season made the score 2-0.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Iowa State manager Theodore Foster.
Alabama is 13-25 and Iowa State, with the loss, 23-15.
