Cardinals Win at Long Beach State, 7-4
The Stanford Cardinals topped the Long Beach State 49'ers, 7-4, with shortstop Chris Barnhart playing a big role. Barnhart went 3-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Cardinals in the win. Stanford reliever Matthew Gilmer was credited with the win, to go to 2-0. Brian Lux took the loss for Long Beach State. The Cardinals now have a record of 19-18.

Travis Covert helped his team jump on top from the get-go. His first time up in the top of the first, he cranked a 2-run single to give Stanford a 2-0 lead.

"We'll enjoy this win for now, but it's just one," Covert told local reporters. "We've got to keep it going."
