In a tight contest at Field of the Plunder, the Georgia Bulldogs edged the Oklahoma Sooners by the score of 5-4. Georgia right fielder Joel Moroney, who blasted 1 home run, was named the player of the game. Josh Allen earned the win to go to 1-0. He allowed 3 earned runs on 8 hits, with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts. Earning his 8th save of the year was A.J. Schneider.

There was more than one reason the Bulldogs beat the Sooners, but Moroney's big at-bat in the bottom of the first was an important factor. He staked his team to a 3-0 lead when he hit a 3-run home run.

"This is not a one-man show," said Moroney. "A lot of the guys stepped up."

Georgia now has a 3-game win streak.
