Great Day for Stumpf in Commodores Win
The Vanderbilt Commodores reigned over the North Carolina Tar Heels in damp conditions at Bruisers Ballpark.

The Vanderbilt Commodores topped the North Carolina Tar Heels, 7-4, with youngster Dustin Stumpf playing a key role. Stumpf went 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Commodores in the win. Jimmy Gregus earned the save, his 7th, for the Commodores.

Vanderbilt took a 5-4 lead on Brent Biernacki's 10th home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off North Carolina pitcher Jason Ball in the top of the seventh.

"We'll enjoy this win for now, but it's just one," Stumpf told local reporters. "We've got to keep it going."

Vanderbilt is now 23-14, while North Carolina is 22-15.
