The South Mississippi Golden Eagles clobbered the Mississippi State Bulldogs, 12-1, at Ballpark of Storm Lake College today. South Mississippi center fielder Mat Martin was named player of the game for his productive day. He went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. The winner was South Mississippi reliever Corey Marshburn, now 2-0. The loser was Jay Lynch. With the win, South Mississippi goes to 23-14, while the Bulldogs fall to 20-17.
South Mississippi grabbed a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fifth when Danny Medina hit a run-scoring triple. For the day, Medina was 1 for 2 with a triple, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 times.
