Redding, Golden Eagles Manhandle Owls

The South Mississippi Golden Eagles pounded the Rice Owls, 14-0, at Ballpark of Storm Lake College. South Mississippi first baseman Danny Redding had a solid game. He belted 2 home runs. He scored 4 runs and drove in 5 for the Golden Eagles. Danny Cook got the win, improving to 5-1. He worked 5 innings, giving up no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 10 and walking 1. At 22-13, the Golden Eagles are currently 5th in the Cliff Gustafson.
With South Mississippi leading 9-0 in the bottom of the fourth, Redding came up to bat against Rice pitcher Adam Karpowicz. Redding hit a fastball to right for a grand slam home run. His 11th home run of the season put the Golden Eagles on top, 13-0.
Redding told the media after that game that the mood in the clubhouse is "extremely positive" after a win like that.
