Wright Goes Wild, But Cyclones Win
|
Michigan center fielder Scott Wright had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Wright went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 3, even as Iowa State beat the Wolverines, 8-7. Wright was named the player of the game despite the loss. Nick Swanson recorded his 9th save for Iowa State. The winning continues for Iowa State, with the latest making it 7 straight.
Iowa State took a 8-7 lead on Jamie Ballentine's 16th home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off Michigan pitcher Travis Rufus in the bottom of the eighth.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Ballentine said.
