Ragin Cajuns Drop Cougars, 5-1
|
Louisiana-Layfayette starter Shawn Thompson put a stranglehold on the Houston offense. The right-hander had complete command of his slider in leading the Ragin Cajuns to a 5-1 win. In 6 innings, Thompson surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 0. He allowed no runs. With the win, the Ragin Cajuns improved to 17-18.
Dan Miller, not known for his power, had a big at-bat with one out in the top of the sixth. That's when he connected on a curveball from Chris Durkin for a 2-run home run. His 21st home run of the season put Louisiana-Layfayette in front, 2-0.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Louisiana-Layfayette manager Gerardo Torres.
