The Rice Owls used an offensive barrage to beat the Stanford Cardinals, 11-2, at Surfers Ballpark. Sam See led the way, going 3-for-4 for Rice. Chris Roberts, the winner, improved to 3-0. He held the Cardinals to 2 earned runs on 6 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 1. Mike Churchman got credit for the save for Rice. It was his 1st of the year.

George Nash broke a 2-2 tie in the top of the fifth with a run-scoring hit-by-pitch. It put the Owls in front, 3-2. For the game, Nash was 1-4 with a hit by pitch.

Stanford manager Doug Dickey called the blowout loss "a real dud."

Rice, now 18-15, holds 8th place in the Cliff Gustafson.
