Bulldogs Fall to .500 After Loss to Golden Bears

The California Golden Bears got a strong performance from pitcher Erik Teunissen, who stymied the Mississippi State offense en route to a 3-1 win at Prisoners Ballpark. California reliever Justin Madison was the winner. His record is now 1-1. Ken Robinson took the loss. Picking up the save was Jim Unknown, his 1st.
Billy Fitch went 1-2 with a walk for California. The 19-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring walk off Ken Robinson. It was his 20th walk of the season.
"Wish we'd had more wins to celebrate like this one," said Teunissen.
The last-place Golden Bears improved to 9-23.
