Jaeger 3-5 as Longhorns Squeeze Past Stanford
|
Texas beat Stanford at Surfers Ballpark, escaping with a 10-9 win. The win in large part was due to right fielder Jerry Jaeger, who earned player of the game honors. He was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 5. Jonathan Benning nailed down his 1st save. With the win, Texas goes to 15-16, while the Cardinals fall to 15-16.
Jaeger turned the game around in the top of the eighth. That's when the Texas right fielder dialed up a grand slam home run. Just like that, Texas's 9-6 deficit turned into a 10-9 lead.
"I'm proud of the way our guys played today to come out with this win," Jaeger told the Texas Times.
