Fugate, Golden Eagles Clobber Cougars
The South Mississippi Golden Eagles used an offensive barrage to beat the Washington State Cougars, 10-0, at Ballpark of Storm Lake College. Dallas Fugate led the way, going 2-for-3 for South Mississippi. Danny Cook got the win, improving to 4-1. He held the Cougars to no earned runs on 2 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 0. Nick Germinaro picked up the save, his 1st.

Tied up with the Cougars in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Golden Eagles got a boost from catcher Jody DiCecco. With runners on 1st and 2nd, DiCecco saw a first pitch curveball from Nate Miller and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put South Mississippi on top, 1-0.

Said losing manager Shinsui Sato: "Give the Golden Eagles credit. They took advantage of our mistakes."

With the win, the Golden Eagles have a record of 19-12.
