The Stanford Cardinals defeated the LSU Tigers, 9-4, in Rod Dedeaux League action at South Paris College Grounds, with Stanford catcher Travis Voss named player of the game. Tim Evans picked up the win with 5.1 innings of work. He allowed 1 earned run on 6 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 6. On the season, he is now 2-2. Stanford has a 3-game win streak, while LSU has lost 3 in a row.
There was more than one reason the Cardinals beat the Tigers, but Voss's big at-bat in the top of the third was an important factor. He staked his team to a 3-1 lead when he hit a 2-run double.
