The Washington State Cougars used an offensive barrage to beat the Houston Cougars, 10-2, at Tribe Ballpark. Andy Richards led the way, going 2-for-3 for Washington State. Gary Compton, credited with the win, is now 3-0. He allowed 2 runs on 7 hits in 5.2 innings. Mark Eppler got the save, the 2nd for him this season.

Richards contributed a productive at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With the bases loaded, he hit a grand slam. It was one of the critical at-bats that helped Washington State get the win.

Houston manager Cisco Sánchez called the blowout loss "a real stinker."

Washington State currently is in 6th place in the Cliff Gustafson at 17-13.
