Louisiana-Layfayette starter Phil Wiseman kept the USC hitters in check, while his team cruised to a 9-1 win. John Newsom sewed up the save, his 1st. Louisiana-Layfayette now sits at 14-15, while USC falls to 14-15.

The Louisiana-Layfayette win was a team effort. It included major contributions from, among others, Bryant Santana. In the bottom of the second, the Louisiana-Layfayette designated hitter came to bat and hit a 2-run single. It staked his team to a 2-0 lead.
