Bruins Fall to Fugate, Golden Eagles
The South Mississippi Golden Eagles knocked off the UCLA Bruins, 9-4, at Ballpark of Storm Lake College. Dallas Fugate, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason South Mississippi won. The designated hitter went 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 doubles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. South Mississippi reliever Nick Richmond picked up the win, bumping his record to 1-1. Matt Swearingin was collared with the loss. The 5th-place Golden Eagles now have a win-loss record of 17-11.

Fugate turned the game around in the bottom of the seventh. That's when the South Mississippi designated hitter dialed up a 3-run home run. Just like that, South Mississippi's 3-2 deficit turned into a 5-3 lead.

"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Fugate told the South Mississippi Citizen.
