North Carolina first baseman Bryan Wilson was instrumental in his team's 9-0 win over the Alabama Crimson Tide. Wilson, who is tied for 4th in the SBL in extra base hits with 18, went 4-4 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Tar Heels. North Carolina reliever Jason Ball was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Nick Burdette took the loss for Alabama. The losing streak for Alabama has now reached 4 games.

In the top of the eighth inning, Kevin Duke contributed a big hit for the Tar Heels. With North Carolina leading 6-0, he hammered a 3-run home run.

"We took it on the chin today," said losing manager Gene Beatty.
