Baylor pitcher David Lawal did his part in helping his team beat the USC Trojans, 5-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Lawal picked up the win for Baylor, going 6.1 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 2-1. Jim Unknown earned the save, his 1st.
The Bears grabbed the lead in the bottom of the fifth. With no one out, Steve King hit a solo home run off Keith Hamrock, putting Baylor in front, 3-1. For King, it was his 5th home run of the season.
"You never take a win for granted in this league," said King.
Baylor's record now stands at 13-14, placing them 13th in the Cliff Gustafson.
