Sycamores Drop Tigers, 6-4
|
Indiana State starter Erik Fletcher pitched effectively against the Clemson Tigers at Pit Vipers Ballpark. The right-hander led his team to a 6-4 win. Fletcher went 5.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. His record improves to 2-4. The first-place Sycamores have won 5 in a row.
The Sycamores beat the Tigers with some clutch hitting. The double by Jon Kirkendall in the bottom of the fifth is a good example. With two down, Kirkendall gave his team the lead, 6-4, when he came through with the big hit.
"I believe in our guys," said Indiana State skipper Ed Johnson. "I like the energy they're playing with."
