Bombers Knock Off Earthquakes at Golden Gate Park
|
With left fielder Jorge Rivera leading the charge, the South Carolina Bombers defeated the San Francisco Earthquakes, 4-2, at Golden Gate Park. Rivera, who is the top prospect in the Bombers organization, was 4-4 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk. Losses have been few and far between for the Earthquakes, who are now 5-2.
Bill Hawken aided the South Carolina cause with a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh. For the game, the first baseman went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
After the game, South Carolina manager Randy Huggett applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
