The North Carolina Tar Heels and Iowa State Cyclones were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd at Bruisers Ballpark.

Iowa State center fielder Matt O'Dell played a vital role in his team's 14-5 triumph over North Carolina. He went 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 for Iowa State. Iowa State starter Rafael Velasco was credited with the win after throwing 80 pitches over 5 innings. His record now stands at 3-1.

Early in the game, catcher Ben Wollney had a 2-run home run for Iowa State. It was his 6th home run of the season and put the Cyclones on top, 3-2.

"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Iowa State manager Theodore Foster.
