Victory Over Tigers Takes Auburn to 16-8
|
Fans who gathered at Magistrates Ballpark saw a good contest between the Auburn Tigers and Clemson Tigers.
In a close game at Magistrates Ballpark, the Auburn Tigers edged the Clemson Tigers, 5-4. Auburn left fielder Chad Detering earned the nod as player of the game. He went 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs. Auburn reliever Chris Sykes picked up the win to move to 1-0. Ben Matthews suffered the loss.
Scott Bucey had a productive trip to the plate with one out in the top of the fourth inning. With the bases loaded, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run, helping Auburn to the win.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Clemson manager Júlio Santana.
Auburn has an impressive 16-8 record.
