49'ers Spoil Great Performance by Santana
The Long Beach State 49'ers outlasted Bryant Santana and the Louisiana-Layfayette Ragin Cajuns, 9-8. Santana was impressive in the loss. The Louisiana-Layfayette designated hitter went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 triples. He scored 2 runs and drove in 5. Jim Unknown finished the game for Long Beach State and earned his 1st save. The 49'ers raised their record to 15-9.

Chipping in for Long Beach State was first baseman Chase Hoene. He stroked a 2-run double in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, Hoene was 1 for 4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
