Valentine belts 2 home runs, Commodores Move to 14-9
|
The Vanderbilt Commodores topped the Michigan Wolverines, 5-3, in Skip Bertman League action at Siege Ballpark. The player of the game was Vanderbilt right fielder Jason Valentine. Vanderbilt reliever Josh Spangler was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Travis Rufus. The Commodores sit in 5th place in the Ron Fraser Division with a record of 14-9.
Valentine turned the game around in the top of the eighth. That's when the Vanderbilt right fielder dialed up a 2-run home run. Just like that, Vanderbilt's 3-2 deficit turned into a 4-3 lead.
"They played a better game than we did," said Michigan skipper Esteban Núñes.
