Fresno State Wins 3-2 to Continue Red Hot Start
|
Though he had a great game, William Horst could not single-handedly produce a win for Ole Miss. Fresno State won the game, 3-2. Horst was named the player of the game. He went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Steve Allebach, credited with the win, is now 2-0. He allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 3.2 innings. At 18-5, the Bulldogs have a slim two-game lead in the Cliff Gustafson.
Tyler Thompson was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Fresno State. In the bottom of the fifth, with the teams deadlocked, 2-2, Thompson delivered for the Bulldogs. His run-scoring double put Fresno State on top, 3-2.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Fresno State manager Xavier Chávez said.
