Sooners Roll to 8-3 Win Over Salukis
|
The Oklahoma Sooners topped the South Illinois Salukis, 8-3, with youngster Jay Stream playing a key role. Stream went 2 for 2 with 2 singles and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs for the Sooners in the win. The winner was Oklahoma reliever Eddie Rodriges, now 3-1. The loser was Brandon Roberts. At 11-12, Oklahoma is in 15th place in the Ron Fraser Division.
One of the key players for the Sooners was catcher Sam Erickson, who drilled a run-scoring single in the bottom of the third inning. For the game, Erickson was 2-4 with 2 singles and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 times.
"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Stream told the Oklahoma Gazette.
