Victory Over Golden Bears Takes South Mississippi to 14-9
The California Golden Bears went down to defeat to Mike Canada and his South Mississippi teammates. The final score was 6-2 in favor of the Golden Eagles. The 4th-place Golden Eagles raised their record to 14-9.

A key at-bat in the game came in the top of the sixth inning when the Golden Eagles sent teenager John Rose to the plate against Golden Bears hurler Marcus Huley. With runners on 1st and 2nd and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a double off a 2-1 slider to score 2.

"This was a good win for us," said Rose. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."
