With second baseman Matt Easton leading the charge, the Mississippi State Bulldogs defeated the UCLA Bruins, 4-2, at Ballpark of Shiprock College. Easton, who is tied for 6th in the RDL in bases on balls with 20, was 1-1 with 2 walks. Mississippi State reliever Shane Corley picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. Keith More was saddled with the loss. Jim Unknown got the save, the 1st for him this season.

Josh Simmons's at-bat in the top of the ninth inning was a big one for Mississippi State. Coming to bat with two out, the bases loaded and Mississippi State leading 3-2, the pinch hitter drew a walk, driving in 1 run.

"The effort we put into this one paid off," Easton said.

With the victory, the Bulldogs record now stands at 13-10.
