Hurricanes Win Again, Extend Streak to 6
|
The Miami Hurricanes beat the Virginia Cavaliers, 5-2, at Gremlins Ballpark. The win was largely due to the efforts of third baseman Alex Sandobal, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. The winning streak has now reached 6 games for the Hurricanes.
Sandobal contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Miami in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 2-1, Sandobal took a fastball from Andrew Welborn and stroked the home run to left. His 4th home run of the season allowed the Hurricanes to leap in front, 3-2.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play ever better," said Miami manager Leslie Hanson.
